The Nuts and Bolts of Representing SOM International at an Event

After this, the Lord appointed seventy-two others, and he sent them ahead of him in pairs to every town and place where he himself was about to go. —Luke 10:1

Jesus sent out his disciples to represent Him and do the same work. Likewise, SOM International wants to empower GAs to represent God’s work and invite others to join.

Jesus set out some basic principles.

  1. Are you ready? Jesus sent out disciples who were informed and deeply passionate about the work. The “Learn How to be a Global Ambassador” series is a pre-requisite. Sign up here to receive that email series.
  2. Where to go? Start where you live. Choose an event that is within driving distance of your home.
  3. Which event? Check the event website to see if its mission and vision are compatible and aligned with those of SOM International. Mission alignment ensures your efforts are purposeful and effective.
  4. Take people with you. You will need help. A mission conference is a great way to introduce SOM International to your friends and church. Your friends can attend the conference seminars AND help you at the SOM booth.

How to Represent SOM International

  1. Count the cost. You will need to pay for your transportation and food costs and possibly stay overnight at the event location.
  2. Complete the Events Form at least two months before the booth application deadline.
  3. SOM International will assign a staff member to assist you in navigating the process. You will receive an email and a phone call.
  4. Set up reliable email, text, and phone communication with your SOM staffer. Your SOM staffer will guide you through the process.
  5. Get organized. Mark the booth application deadline on your calendar and the event dates, including travel time.
