Discussion Discipleship Method Workshop
SOM International is about serving and developing Christian leaders. Our training in the Discussion Discipleship Method (also called the oral inductive method) is part of our training both domestically and internationally.
SOM International’s Discussion Discipleship Method training is distinctive because it is orally taught and orally transferred. It is effective for a diverse, multiethnic, multi-generational audience.
Are you the kind of person who would rather watch a movie or read a book? Most of us would choose the movie because we prefer visual and oral communication. SOM’s discipleship training uses a visual and oral approach to understand Bible passages inductively, and then relationally share them with others. Sometimes called an oral inductive method, this approach breaks down barriers that hold people back from understanding and teaching the Bible. We have found that executives, elders, business people, and students can learn and teach this oral inductive method of discipleship. We call it the Discussion Discipleship Method (DDM).
The Discussion Discipleship Method is an Effective Tool that Equips Christian Leaders to Multiply Disciples!
DDM uses questions and discussion to engage Scripture and dig out observations of truth. It strengthens understanding and retention, builds relationships, and fosters biblical life application.
*$50 participation fee for the workshop. If the participant is unable to pay the fee, scholarships are available.
This method helped me to focus on the framework; being able to visualize it brings life to it, the scripture comes alive.
This training workshop renewed my enthusiasm for the Word of God, it was a story form that I could get into!
Seeing the reality of people being real in the Word of God changed the way I will read the Bible.
Wow…cannot believe a week has passed since Training… My life is forever changed & I Know this IS MY gifting…I CAN share HIS STORY in HIS Power! I can’t put it into words, my spirit was leaping!
My testimony to the very, very short time I got to participate, is I likened to the feeling I have when I hear the story of Mary walking into Elizabeth’s house and the baby in her womb, John the Baptist, lept inside her at Mary’s presence who was carrying our savior Jesus. That is how my spirit felt as we were trained Friday night and as we heard the story from Ron on letting go, and giving our all to God, how we will be transformed when we give our all to God.
It was exciting as the stories began to unfold, to watch as each person entered the story, became unlocked, and treasures and precious gems were discovered! People took ownership of the story.
