1. Connect with Like-Minded People and Build a Network
Connect with other SOM Global Ambassadors in your area to build a network. Together, you can provide encouragement and additional support. Unite with others for activities and broaden the reach of your efforts. Ask God for wisdom as you seek like-minded people to support our persecuted family through SOM International. Look in your network—friends, family, and acquaintances—and pray for them. Ask God to stir their hearts and open doors for conversations about our persecuted family.
Follow up with the people to build relationships and expand your network. Set a date for your next gathering and look for emerging leaders within your group. Schedule one-on-one coffee meetings with “people worth watching” to get to know them. Brainstorm how they can contribute to SOM International’s mission.
2. Host Engaging Informational Events
Host a gathering at your home or church. Share powerful testimonies from SOM International. Pray together for the Persecuted Church. Encourage the group to subscribe to the SOM International newsletter. Remember the four W’s of effective meetings. By God’s grace, you will grow a committed group of supporters. Tell others how they can serve with SOM International as a Global Ambassador. Explain how they can pray, serve, and give to help our persecuted family. They can meet the needs of the Global Church.
3. Establish a Monthly Prayer and Worship Night
Host a prayer and worship night dedicated to the Persecuted Church. These gatherings provide a sacred space for corporate prayer and praise. Set up a resource table offering SOM materials that encourage and inform pray-ers.
4. Engage Your Small Group or Prayer Circle
Invite your small group or prayer circle to dedicate one monthly meeting to pray for the Persecuted Church. This focused prayer time deepens your group’s commitment and fosters advocacy for global believers in need.
5. Leverage Your Interests for Wider Outreach
Where do you already go? Think about gatherings where you can introduce the work of SOM International—a book club, community fair, or hobby group. You can invite folks to sign up for the newsletter and learn more about speaking for our persecuted brothers and sisters. You reach a broader audience and make new friends.
6. Engage with Your Church Community
Share inspiring SOM testimonies during your small group meetings. Encourage members to sign up for the SOM International newsletter. Represent SOM International at your church’s mission conference. Invite an SOM speaker to address your congregation. Publicize the event, staff the SOM resource table, and talk to the people to spread the word.
7. Enroll in or Host Discipleship and Evangelism Training
Sign up for SOM International’s Discipleship and Evangelism Training, which is available in workshop or online formats. You learn skills and knowledge to teach others. The training prepares you to lead and inspire those you’re discipling. Host a Discipleship or Evangelism Workshop at your church. This will strengthen your church and community. Also, join an SOM International workshop as an instructor and travel to teach at workshops in other areas. These opportunities will expand your reach and skills.
8. Connect with Fellow Disciplers
Connect with other disciplers and like-minded SOM Global Ambassadors in your area. Build a network of fellow trainers to provide support, ideas, and collaboration. Working with others in your team motivates and informs everyone. Create a follow-up plan to cultivate relationships and expand your network. Invite people to gatherings and build strong connections.
9. Launch an Interactive Bible Discussion (IBD)
Start an Interactive Bible Discussion (IBD) in your community. IBDs teach discipleship skills and processes. Make sure you complete the discipleship training first.
10. Identify and Empower Emerging Leaders
As your group grows, look for people who show potential for leadership. Plan one-on-one coffee meetings with potential leaders. Find out what their interests are and how they can contribute. Encourage them to take on more significant roles within the network and help them connect with others.
11. Organize a Monthly “Night of the Nations”
Host a “Night of the Nations” event at your home or church once a month. Focus on prayer and support for the Persecuted Church. Set up an SOM resource table with books and prayer cards. You can inspire community support and action.
12. Support SOM Workshops with a Potluck
Organize a potluck for an SOM workshop in your area. Hospitality builds community and is vital to the workshop’s success. Hospitality welcomes people and nourishes relationships.
