Global Ambassador Toolbox
Global Ambassador Toolbox teaches skills for representing SOM International and inviting others to serve the persecuted church. One of our GA features was Terry. As Terry passed out newsletters and invited friends to get involved, she learned an important lesson about relationships. Here’s her story.
Relationship
Essential Skills for Global Ambassadors
One of Terry’s friends donated to provide sewing machines for the women’s sewing microbusiness. Terry’s friend received a Welcome Pack from SOM shortly after, giving important information about SOM International’s mission. Terry’s friend asked her, “What’s all this information for?”
That’s when Terry realized what she had done.
She needed to invite her friend into a relationship with our persecuted family, not into giving a donation.
Terry was able to explain the need for a relationship with her friend. And her friend was able to become a servant instead of a donor.

GA TOOLBOX: Relationship
The Nuts and Bolts of Witness Aware Cards
Andrew and John knew that Jesus was different. So, they asked Jesus, “Teacher, where are you staying?”
Jesus responded, “Come and see.”
Jesus invited people into a relationship. At SOM International, we invite people to complete a Witness Aware Card (WAC). Just as naturally as we exchange contact information with our friends, GAs ask friends to fill out a card. For many, it’s the first step into a bold new world where they see God using us to make disciples.
- Connects them to the SOM family.
- Teaches the challenges of our persecuted family through newsletters and other resources.
- Opens the door for them to serve.
CEO David Witt said, “God wants our heart.” Most of us are invited into the work by a friend asking us to fill out a card.
Inviting a friend to fill out a Witness Aware Card creates a sense of urgency. The invitation says, “This is important.”
- Share a brief SOM testimony and the newsletter with a friend: “You can learn more if you fill out this card now.”
- At a SOM exhibitor’s booth: “You can stay in touch by filling out this card now.”
- At a prayer meeting, share a brief SOM testimony, invite people to pray, and then say, “You can receive monthly prayer points by filling out this card now.”
- At a speaking event: “You can receive encouragement and hear challenging testimonies if you fill out this card now.”
