SOM Senegal Prayer and Praise Update
Written by SOM-Senegal President Malik

My name is Kumar.  I was born in the country of a fundamental Islamic country in Northwest Africa. I finished studying the Qu’ran when I was 12 years old. I diligently studied the laws and precepts of the Qu’ran so I could exalt Islam in my country. I have been an Islamic missionary for 17 years traveling from place to place teaching about Islam.

In June 1999, there was war between my people group and the white Maure (pronounced “Moore” in English). I was fighting for my tribe. After the war, I became an evil person.

I was stealing cattle and killing.

During these 8 years, there was a war between the Fulani people and the Soninke in Mali. I went to fight. I was captured and put into jail in Mali. While I was in prison, a man called Peter was coming to share the Gospel. This was first time, I heard about the Word of God.

When I was released from prison, I went back to my home country for a few months and then went back to Mali. I began listening to a Christian radio station and began to learn of the path of righteousness. I decided to follow Christ in 2000. The people who were teaching on the radio station helped me to grow in Christ. I was baptized in June 2001 and went to study the Bible for three years.

In April 2005, I decided to go back to my home to preach the Word. I had all kinds of Christian literature to share with other people. At that time, I did not know that it is prohibited to share the Gospel. I was caught and put in jail for 8 days.

With prayers of the believers in Mali and their support, I was release from jail and I had two options.Kumar On Right

One was to be killed and the second was to escape out of my country (losing my citizenship). Finally, I decided to lose my citizenship. I become a Malian. However, because of this, I am able to travel freely to my home country and share the Gospel!

I am living in Mali, but I have a wife and three children who live in my country of birth. This is very difficult and I travel back and forth. I made many tapes in the capital city to distribute to people. I live at the border between Mali and Mauritania in order to be able to go back and forth.

I have been in Benin for two years studying in Bible school and I will finish my third year starting this coming October.
Please, pray for me as I am working under the leadership of SOM Senegal.

Pray for wisdom and protection of my family and myself.

Pray for a motorbike so I can visit more consistently with my contacts and family in my country of birth

Thank you and God bless you all.

Thank you for your love and partnership together in serving Jesus Christ.
